John Oliver kicked off his guest-hosting stint on The Daily Show last night, and his fellow correspondents were there to offer plenty of encouraging words.

I NEED YOU TO KNOW THAT AL MADRIGAL’S SPECIAL IS TONIGHT AT 11PM Eastern.

You can read our conversation about it HERE

I have to say that touring with Al and Adam Lowitt this past fall was not merely a great opportunity to visit even more Courtyards By Marriotts, but also a true and happy education in the art of stand up.

AL is a genius. Watch tonight, and then GO SEE HIM.

Listen to what this deranged millionaire has to say!

For more Al Madrigal, don’t miss the premiere of Why Is the Rabbit Crying? tonight at 11/10c.

This question is for Al Madrigal! So my boyfriend does some stand up and considers himself an innovative, out-of-the box comedian. Today he told me about a (very) out-of-the-box bit he wants to do and I casually mentioned I didn’t think it would work. The next thing I know, he’s having a drama queen meltdown, telling me I’m so unbelievably negative and critical and just overall the worst. Please explain how a passing comment could evince such a total overreaction?

Just tell him to quit acting like a baby & in the future not to run his half baked ideas by you and let you know after he works it out. That’s what my wife says to me.

colbertfan asked you:
For Al: What’s the weirdest thing that’s ever happened to you behind the scenes at TDS?

Weirdest and Coolest - Colbert popped into my office, a former storage closet, for 20 minutes to chit chat.

girl4042 asked you:
Al Madrical: If you were to train me for four weeks for a stand-up comedy competition or a major audition, and had 2 million dollars on the line, what would the training look like? What if I trained for eight weeks?

Did you ever see Rocky 4? It’d look like the opposite of that.

That’s it for this installment of Ask a Professional Comedian. Many thanks to the great Al Madrigal for participating and to all of you who sent in questions!

Al Madrigal: Why Is the Rabbit Crying premieres tomorrow at 11/10c.

fridge-logic asked you:
Hey Al, how do you think you’ve changed as a comedian in the last few years? I saw your Comedy Central Presents special, and it seemed like you had a whole different vibe back then.

Yeah, It wasn’t good. Not sure what i was doing, definitely not ready for TV and that certainly was not special. I actually rewatch that one as a DVD extra with Louis Katz. There are glimpses of it but I developed into more of a story-teller. Delivery felt forced, I think honestly I was trying to be the comedian I thought I wanted to be. Not too far after that I settled in and really was comfortable just being myself.

Anonymous asked you:
pancakes or waffles?!

At breakfast I have a very difficult time choosing between the pancakes, 2 eggs, bacon, breakfast potatoes and choice of toast and the waffles, 2 eggs, bacon, breakfast potatoes and choice of toast.

doctorew69 asked you:
hey Al, how many times have you used the bathroom in the past 3 days? and for how long where you in the bathroom?
Twice and I’m sort of scared about it. Everyone should go at least once per day right?

Al madrigal!! . .was that you in the Workaholics episode with the Juggahoes and letts?…you know you were drinking a fresca or something with your face painted like a juggahoe

NO! But I’m a huge fan of the show. Think Adam Devine and Erik Griffin are very funny comics if you haven’t seen their standup.

grizzledude asked you:
For Al Madrigal, do you consider a sense of comedic timing something that can be taught?

That’s something that you have to develop. I’ve always thought comedy classes were sort of a ripoff.
